Participation in Anti-FGM Mentorship and Maa Cultural Festival in Kajiado County
Mama Guyo Foundation, led by H.E. Alamitu Guyo Jattani, First Lady of Marsabit County and Chairperson of the County First Ladies Association (CFLA–K), joined fellow County First Ladies in Kajiado County for a series of impactful engagements hosted by H.E. Edna Lenku, First Lady of Kajiado County.
The visit included the Anti-FGM Mentorship Talk and Celebration for Girls held on 5th November 2025 under the theme “Pamoja Tumalize Ukeketaji Kajiado.” The event brought together County leaders, young girls, and development partners to promote the elimination of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), empower girls through mentorship, and reaffirm the collective commitment to safeguarding their rights and education.
The mentorship session featured interactive discussions, performances, and inspirational speeches from members of the County First Ladies Association, the Anti-FGM Board, and other partners, culminating in a collective pledge and signing against FGM.
Following this, the County First Ladies participated in the Maa Cultural and Tourism Festival 2025, held from 5th–8th November 2025 at Kimana Gate, Amboseli National Park. The festival celebrated the unity, heritage, and resilience of Maa communities across Kenya, Tanzania, and Malawi.
Mama Guyo Foundation remains committed to advancing the welfare and empowerment of women and girls, in line with the collective vision of Kenya’s County First Ladies to end FGM and promote inclusive development across all counties.
Launch of ECDE Education Support Materials – Uran, Sololo & Obbu Wards
On 21st October 2025, we joined the County Government of Marsabit, through the Department of Education, Skills Development, Youth and Sports, successfully launched new Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) Support Materials at Uran Godha ECDE Centre.
The event, graced by H.E. Alamitu Jattani Guyo, First Lady of Marsabit County, was held under the theme “Nurturing Today’s Learners, Shaping Tomorrow’s Leaders” and sub-theme “Nurturing the Future: Launching Tools for Early Learning.”
The colourful ceremony brought together education stakeholders, ECDE teachers, learners, and partners, with entertainment from school choirs and traditional dancers adding vibrancy to the occasion.
In her keynote address, the First Lady emphasized the importance of investing in early quality learning as a foundation for lifelong education and holistic child development. She officially unveiled and presented the new learning materials, symbolizing the County’s commitment to improving access to quality ECDE services.
The event concluded with appreciation for all partners and departments supporting early childhood education and a call for continued collaboration in nurturing young learners across Marsabit County.
Participation in Marsabit County Trade Fair – May 2025
Mama Guyo Foundation proudly participated in the Marsabit County Trade Fair, held from 20th to 22nd May 2025 at Marsabit Stadium. During the event, our team engaged with students and young people through mentorship sessions and interactive activities. We used the platform to raise awareness and provide guidance on key issues including:
- Academic Counseling
- Sexual and Reproductive Health & Rights (SRHR)
- Personal and Life Skills Development
- Environmental Conservation
- Campaign Against Outlawed Cultural Practices such as FGM/C and Child Marriage
- Campaign Against Drug & Substance Abuse
The trade fair offered a valuable opportunity to connect with the community, promote youth empowerment, and advocate for positive social change.
Leadership Program for County Social Transformation.
Ms. Alamitu Jattani, Founder and Managing Director of Mama Guyo Foundation, recently participated in the Leadership Program for County Social Transformation. Her involvement reflects the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to advancing visionary leadership and inclusive development across Marsabit County and beyond.
International Day of the Girl 2025: “Let Me Be a Child, Not a Wife”
Mama Guyo Foundation joined partners in commemorating the International Day of the Girl 2025 at Windsor Golf Hotel, Nairobi, under the theme #EndChildMarriage. The storytelling forum featured powerful performances by youth advocates through poetry, spoken word, songs, and skits, amplifying girls’ voices against child marriage.
The event also saw the launch of the Kenya Policy Brief on Child, Early and Forced Marriage and Unions (CEFMU) and the East Africa Law Journal Special Edition – After the Law: From Legislative Success to Community-Level Action to End Child Marriage in Kenya.
Among the keynote speakers were Hon. Dorice Donya, Hon. Lady Justice Helene Namisi, and H.E. Alamitu Jattani, First Lady of Marsabit County, who called for sustained collaboration to protect girls’ rights and ensure every girl enjoys education and dignity, free from early marriage.
