AMANI NA UMOJA

Ethnic tensions remain high causing ethnic antagonism, often causing bloody tribal clashes and ethnic-based politics and polarization. Peace is always at the cornerstone of the development of a community and lack of it, therefore, derails the progress of any society. And Amani na Umoja programme, therefore, address this issue through three objectives; first, the programme aims to initiate the building bridges initiatives in Marsabit communities.

In line with this, the foundation has conducted and supported annual Cultural Festivals ( Qubi El-Fatu, Qoloba, and Bakalcha festivals) that bring together community cultural groups to share their cultural knowledge. Also, the organization implemented Peace Runs to bring together various community members so that people can interact; the second is to enhance the capacity building of conflict resolutions actors. These actors include traditional and modern institutions.

Traditional institutions like the elders and religious leaders are trained in peacebuilding and conflict resolutions, and modalities like traditional community elders are trained and supported in conflict mapping. Modern actors like civil society are supported in their work to build peace between communities, and thirdly it aims to strengthen dialogues between and amongst communities to enhance cohesion and peacebuilding. Dialogues have been enhanced between women of different communities to champion the agenda of peacebuilding. MGF has spearheaded conversations among women leaders in advancing peace in communities.
