About Our Charity
Mama Guyo Foundation is a non-profit, charitable organization founded in 2016 by H.E. Alamitu Guyo Jattani – First Lady Marsabit County – to promote and enhance the voice and lives of the vulnerable population in Marsabit County through ideals of motherly care, sharing, and protection as evoked in the word ‘Mama’ which is a Swahili word for Mother.
As a private citizen, Mama Guyo alias H.E. Alamitu G. Jattani is involved in charitable causes since 2005 where the family supports the poor in society through education scholarships. In this endeavor, she has, since then, and before establishing Mama Guyo Foundation as an entity, sponsored over a dozen students to join high schools and complete tertiary levels of education. Further, during the time of the establishment, she was involved in supporting old people, women, and children in Marsabit communities.
Since the founding and registration of the Mama Guyo Foundation, the organization has grown in leaps and bounds and has established field offices in Saku Sub County of Marsabit County in Northern Kenya, a region ravaged by threats of climate change, poverty, and the harsh environments.

Organization Structure
Mama Guyo Foundation has, since its initiation, completed programmes of different nature, scales, and magnitude. To undertake this feat, the organization has put in place mechanisms and operation procedures that guide projects work into completion. Guiding this work is, among others, the Sphere Project Standards that guide the NGOs work, and as such Mama Guyo Foundation remains committed to remaining above board in matters of integrity, quality, relevance, and effectiveness of projects it implements.
The organization implements projects through a robust consultative process that starts from community needs assessment evaluation, and development of projects out the same therefore the organization has, in Robert Frost’s words ‘put the last first’, in matters of project idea generation through the entire phase of projects implementation and to its completion. As a proud community listener, the organization prides itself as espoused in its motto, as the ‘Custodian of Care, Voice, and Protection’. Indeed, Mama Guyo Foundation’s projects are by community, for the community, and with the community.
