RECENT PROGRAMMES

Women and Youth Groups Empowerment

Economic empowerment is one of the most powerful routes for women to achieve their potential and advance their rights. Since women make up the majority of the world’s poor, meeting poverty-reduction goals requires addressing women and their economic empowerment. Women who are economically empowered contribute more to their families, societies, and national economies.

It has been shown that women invest extra income in their children, providing a route to sustainable development. So the organization has facilitated and supported the economic empowerment of women in Marsabit through the following;

  • Donated 10 posho mills to 10 women groups
  • Donated a hundred seater tent and 80 plastic chairs to 25 women groups across Marsabit county
  • Donated beddings, clothes, and utensils to 100 displaced households in Sololo due to the communal conflicts in the region
Marsabit Humanitarian Aid 2020

The number of Covid-19 cases in Kenya was rising rapidly from the first reported case on 13th March 2020. The impact and spread of infections were feared to be exacerbated by the huge number of people living in poverty; a weak health structure, and poor access to basic services such as food / clean water, sanitation, and hygiene.

To cushion the vulnerable people in Marsabit county, the foundation established a Humanitarian Aid Programme that supported members of the society against the economic impact of Covid-19 with the following:

  • Cushioned 1300 vulnerable households against the economic impact of Covid-19 by donating them food hampers that could last a month
  • Donated 1200 litres of sanitizers to the health department for the frontline healthcare workers
  • Donated 1000 pieces of 250ml sanitizers to small scale business operators
Shelter for the Vulnerable in Moyale

Caring for the vulnerable populace in our communities protects them during difficult times.

Therefore, the foundation sheltered 27 vulnerable households and disabled people from the Moyale sub-county carefully selected by the community elders. They received 400 iron sheets, 100bags of cement, and Ksh.400, 000 to assist in putting up a roof over their heads.

MCRH Cancer Clinic

Cancer disease is one of the highest causes of death in Marsabit after infectious and cardiovascular diseases and, a 2016 research by KEMRI indicates that about 30% of residents in Marsabit suffer from oesophageal cancer.

Unfortunately, about 90% of reported cases of cancer are diagnosed at advanced stages, when very little can be achieved in terms of curative treatment. Inadequate diagnostic facilities, inadequate screening services, and low awareness of cancer symptoms coupled with financial constraints are the foremost challenges cited for late detection and treatment of cancer in the County.
